Speaker’s Bureau and Tours

Need a speaker? If you’d like to have someone speak to your group or event about issues involving electric generation or transmission or the latest on renewable energy technology and programs, contact us. We’ll find the right expert on our staff to address your issues, from climate change legislation to ’smart grid technology.’

Tours

Learn about baseload, peaking capacity, clean coal and natural gas and combined cycle generation and transmission. We can offer tours of the Apache generating station and the Benson headquarters where the control center for SWTC and the transmission side of operations resides. Group size is limited in some cases and we would like at least four weeks advance notice.

Briefly About Us

Arizona’s G&T Cooperatives are Arizona Electric Power Cooperative, Inc., (AEPCO), Southwest Transmission Cooperative, Inc., (SWTC), and Sierra Southwest Cooperative Services, Inc., (Sierra). Our administrative offices are in Benson, Arizona and through AEPCO we own and operate the 600 Mw (gross rated) Apache generating station in Cochise, Arizona, east of Benson. Wholesale power is delivered through SWTC’s 622 miles of transmission lines to our six class-A member distribution cooperatives who in turn provide it to more than 144,000 customers in southern Arizona, Mohave County in northwestern Arizona, and Anza, California. Our manpower and administrative support for generation and transmission operations are handled through Sierra. For more information about our member distribution co-ops, click here.
