Overhauls of the two steam units at Apache Generating Station have led to greater fuel flexibility and reduced emissions.
Apache Station’s Steam Unit 2 was converted from coal to burning natural gas, coal, or both at the same time.
Gas Turbine 3 is used to supplement generation during peak summer demand.
GT3 improvements include new cooling and fire suppression systems that enhance efficiency and safety and reduce emissions.
GT3 improvements position us to serve Members and customers more reliably and with lower maintenance costs.
