General Counsel

Ben Engelby was named general counsel of Arizona Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. (AEPCO) in 2019. Ben came to AEPCO from ACES, where he served G&T cooperatives across the country as the vice president of regulatory and reliability services. In addition to his general counsel duties at AEPCO, Ben serves as the chief compliance officer and CIP senior manager for the NERC compliance program.

Ben actively participates in several electric industry committees, including the NRECA G&T grid management committee, a board member of Demand Side Tools (DERMS software), a board member of the North American Transmission Forum (NATF), and a member of the NRECA national preference customer committee. Ben previously served as an executive committee member of the NERC compliance and certification committee, a voting member of NERC members representative committee, and a director on the SERC board and a member of the SERC nominating committee.

Ben is a licensed attorney in California and Arizona and is an active member of the Electric Cooperative Bar Association. Ben earned his Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law and his undergraduate marketing degree from Arizona State University, W.P. Carey School of Business.
